The Director of Product should be product-obsessed, driven, detail-oriented, and experienced at leading initiatives. This role will drive the product vision, design/user experience, quality assurance, and overall product hierarchy. You will be largely responsible for ensuring that the product lives up to the expectations of our customers in-line with our brand pillars. You will also be responsible for managing cross-functional delivery.The Director of Product is the owner of the product roadmap and responsible for structuring systems that enable empirical measurement of product improvement. The role requires experience using data and suasion to influence the direction of the product in an environment that emphasizes collaboration. The Director of Product is the primary advocate for the product and implicitly the chief advocate for the customer. A successful Director of Product should be articulate, creative, flexible, and ambitious.
Responsibilities
- Bring your strategic vision and creativity to help us build a world-class product: Help drive the strategic direction of company by pushing innovation and advocating for the product. You’ll lead customer-centric product improvement efforts and advocate for the product when collaborating across teams.
- Collaborate with the founders and executive team to hit ambitious product goals: You will work alongside the core team to set direction for product and engineering to hit goals around delivery and member experience.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of our product, QA, and design teams: You will have direct accountability for managing the product. This management includes working with software like Twillio, GA, etc., and structuring frameworks that leverage empiricism to drive improvement through data.
- Directly manage the workload and roadmap of our engineering teams, and track efficiencies and delivery: You will own the product roadmap and be an integral part of the software development lifecycle. You will ultimately drive delivery and generate reliable results.
- Create meaningful relationships with your colleagues to understand their needs and build a word-class product organization: You will succeed in this role because you have an extremely high EQ. You’ll use this strength to build relationships with across teams to help build a culture of collaboration.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management with 5 years of professional experience working with software engineers. Previous experience as a product owner at software-based product company is highly preferred.
- Previous startup experience is highly preferred. B2B or SaaS experience is also preferred.
- Has the attitude to own the product
- Good sense of design and can dig in on Figma or Photoshop
- Previous experience working in a regulated environment such as banking, healthcare, or defense. Familiarity with security and/or privacy is a plus.
- Experience working in an agile environment, e.g. helping to manage a backlog and working directly with engineers.
- Experience with running customer focus groups.
- Knowledge of best-practices as it relates to A/B testing. Experience using quantitative methodologies to drive product improvement.
